Do decisions in your team drag on, get made by the wrong person, or leave people confused about how you got there?

Competitive companies make good decisions quickly but very few real companies put energy into making sure both the 'good' and the 'quick' happen consistently and at the same time. This workshop gives you the fundamentals to change that.

We'll equip you with practical tools and strategies to...

  • Frame problems properly before jumping to solutions, so you're solving the real issue and not just the first one raised.
  • Weigh competing criteria systematically, using a structured technique for surfacing what really matters in a complex choice.
  • Get clear on who actually owns a decision, and what genuine accountability requires from that person.
  • Map out who else needs to be involved, and in what capacity, so nobody's left out inappropriately and nobody's dragged in unnecessarily.
  • Choose the right decision-making process for the situation, instead of defaulting to whatever feels natural.
  • Avoid the trap of consensus-seeking, and understand why it grinds good decisions to a halt.
  • Keep decisions visible and legible after the fact, so the reasoning isn't lost and misalignment doesn't fester.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who...

  • Feels decisions in their team take too long, or happen inscrutably.
  • Wants more clarity on who should own what.
  • Is regularly stuck waiting on other people's decisions.
  • Leads teams through complex tradeoffs with no clean 'right' answer.

This workshop reminded me that decision-making can be made simpler, even when there are complexities. The decision scoring tool was useful in reminding me how decision-making can be visualized and calculated for full buy-in. I particularly appreciated understanding the importance of ownership (accountability, responsibility, etc.), and I will re-evaluate my position on these things, going forward. If you are struggling to make decisions, go to this workshop.

In this interactive training you will benefit from learning about tools and methods for decision making and how to weigh them while also providing transparency to stakeholders. I enjoyed how the facilitators used real examples that apply to work and life situations. I think the discussions we had were really helpful to understand the value of the various decision‑making options.

The workshop was a great foundation in the mechanics of decision making. It was well organized and had great material. The most impactful parts were around slowing down and thinking about criteria, stakeholders, and reframing the problem statement.
