There are many ways to measure the health of a team. Not every team works the same way or values the same things. There's no universal guide that every team can follow to guarantee success. However, high-performing teams have to have high levels of trust and clear expectations of one another. A Team Charter is a strong foundation for these things.

definition of a team

With a team charter, your group will build a shared understanding of how they best work together. This will be a key milestone in your team's onward journey, informing their heading and giving guidance when times get tough.

We'll guide you through the essential conversations needed to build your team's charter. We'll cover areas such as roles and responsibilities, core values and group norms. Your team will leave the workshop with a complete, first iteration of their charter that they can begin to use immediately.

In this workshop, you will...

  • Use storytelling techniques to develop and refine a shared vision for the team.
  • Identify the key values that the team holds in high-regard.
  • Design a working agreement that accounts for shared values and culture.
  • Explore versions of the future to 'test' the mission and values.
  • Participate in an accountability exercise that unpacks assumptions and exposes the team to each others' expectations.
  • Co-design an aligned first iteration of your team charter.
  • Agree upon a process for keeping the charter up to date and in sync with your teams actions.

During the discovery call, we'll seek to understand more about your team so that we can make strong recommendations around number of sessions and duration for this workshop or series of workshops.

Once the team is set up for success, we often then work 1-on-1 to coach leaders to be effective in the new reality.

I was really inspired by how much the team individuals were present and willing to work together. They have a better understanding of each other as people.

The exercise around future changes was a great way to get the team to think outside of their own individual work and to think about tackling a larger effort as a program.

I'd recommend PeopleStorming because they balanced an approach of fun and practical exercises that were able to keep everyone engaged and understanding the value of what they were doing.

I think the values charter was really helpful. As well as the mission statement to get everyone aligned. The fact that both of you have worked in the tech industry helped us connect quickly and common challenges of a product team. I thought everything we did was really well thought through in terms of cadence.

In addition to offering dedicated workshops and programs for teams, we hold regular sessions that are open to individuals.

If you'd be interested in participating as an individual, let us know...

Everyone is responsible for creating the conditions where the work gets done; no one can do it on their own.
